By the end of 2020, the Project expects to be working through affiliated organizations and individuals to install a new global mission statement for all institutions of higher education in the world. The mission statement will have an enabling curriculum associated with it, as appropriate for each institution, in many cases aligning existing courses of study with the mission. In 2021, many higher education institutions will experience students selecting the "extinction rebellion" major or concentration, or however a course of study is described at those institutions. In subsequent years, local adaptation projects will be developing to help those local societies stay ahead of climate change effects. These are ambitious but doable goals. They are doable because they are scaffolded by existing trends in higher eduction and because they are compatible with good learning.
