You can enable Java Applets in Chrome without a Java plugin or a local Java installation with the CheerpJ Applet Runner extension. Follow the instructions in this blog to discover how to set up Chrome to enable applets. Install the Chrome extension CheerpJ Applet Runner first. Install the extension after you've downloaded the addon, which appears as a shield icon in the Chrome toolbar. On a website containing a Java applet, click the CheerpJ icon, then pick Run Applets to activate the Java applets on the page.
